The city of Zheleznodorozhny is located 7 km east of MKAD, in the territory of Balashikha district of Moscow region. Railway - one of the notable historical and cultural centers of the eastern suburbs. The city has the richest centuries-old history. The first mention of settlements within the boundaries of the modern city is dated 1573-1574, and Obarolovka is mentioned in documents since 1799. The name of the city entirely reflects the history of the foundation of the city. The first mention of the future city is available in the documents for the construction of the Nizhny Novgorod railway, namely, the installation of stations.

The whole road was launched in 1862, and the first section from Moscow to Vladimir - June 14, 1861. One of the railway stations on the section Moscow - Vladimir received the name of the nearest district - Obarulovka.

Over time, around the substation village begins to form the city.

On December 4, 1938, the dacha village of Obaralovka was transformed and renamed the Railway Workers' Village, and in August 1939 the railway station Obiralovka was renamed Zheleznodorozhnaya Station.

On August 7, 1952, the working settlement Zheleznodorozhny was transformed into a city of regional subordination, and on December 10, 1960 the city of Zheleznodorozhny was classified as a city of regional subordination. Zheleznodorozhny is close to Moscow and is known for long-standing strong business, scientific and cultural ties with the capital. In 1904, the Kuchinsky Aerodynamic Institute was created here, which played an important role in the development of Russian aviation science. After the Great Patriotic War in our city, the Scientific Research Institute of Building Ceramics and the Research and Development Institute of Technology were opened.

On the territory of Zheleznodorozhny there are four Orthodox churches, among which the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord with a unique porcelain iconostasis, executed in white and rosy azure colors at the world famous Kuznetsovsk factory in 1904.

The city is rich in spiritual, cultural traditions, memorable places associated with such names as the famous scientist, the founder of the aerodynamic institute Dmitry Ryabushinsky, the outstanding poet of the silver age Andrei Bely, one of the brilliant representatives and organizers of the Soviet, Russian choral art Georgy Struve. Six of our countrymen became Heroes of the Soviet Union, four - Heroes of Socialist Labor, two - full knights of the Order of Glory, one (one of the first hundred) received the Order of Zhukov. Two of our priests are listed as saints.

The ancient history and modern history of the city, its inhabitants is worthily represented by the city museum of local lore, which has almost 3.5 thousand exhibits and historical documents. In all the guides to the historical places of the Moscow region are included many of our ancient manors. For example, Trinity - Kainarji, associated with the brilliant victories of the Russian army in the war with Turkey. The farmstead contains many legends. But it is for certain that in August 1775 Catherine the Great came here with the entire court, foreign ambassadors, accompanied by regiments of the Guards. We began the famous merchant dynasty of the Morozovs and Ryabushinskys, and the Kuchin brickmen were famous throughout the Moscow province.

Railway made a worthy contribution to the victory in the Great Patriotic War, the revival of the national economy in the post-war period. Here there live wonderful people of all generations - from honored veterans of war and labor to their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren. The city is being rapidly built and is developing in the native land of the Moscow region.
